Protecting My “Break Free” Offering
I’ll never forget sitting in a service years ago when the pastor called for a special offering a “Break Free” seed. People came forward with tears in their eyes, believing for breakthrough in their families, their finances, their health, and their future. I remember watching one young man drop his entire week’s paycheck into the bucket. His faith was visible, raw, and sacrificial.
But as I sat there, another thought gripped me: What happens after we give? How do we protect that offering so the seed we sow doesn’t wither before it has a chance to produce?
The Bible gives us the answer. God not only shows us how to sow He shows us how to protect the seed until harvest comes.
1. Discern Between Seed and Bread
Paul wrote: “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.” (2 Corinthians 9:10 ESV)
God always provides two things: seed to plant, and bread to eat. Bread is for daily needs groceries, housing, transportation, family moments. Seed, however, is never meant to be consumed it’s meant to be planted for future harvest.
Here’s the danger: if you eat your seed, you destroy your harvest. Bread will fill you for a day. Seed, when planted, can feed you for a lifetime.
2. Sow Into Personal Investment
Ecclesiastes 11 teaches us: “Invest what you have, because after a while you will get a return… Those who wait for perfect weather will never plant seeds.” (NCV)
In other words: don’t wait for perfect conditions. Start where you are. Invest wisely. Create multiple streams of income. Plant early, stay faithful, and keep sowing.
I once knew a farmer who would plant different crops in different fields, never sure which would thrive that season. Some years corn flourished, some years wheat, but because he diversified, his family never went hungry. That’s exactly what Solomon was teaching.
3. Sow Into Kingdom Investment
But sowing isn’t only financial planning it’s also spiritual planting.
Paul said: “A farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.” (2 Corinthians 9:6 NLT)
When you sow into the Kingdom into missions, the local church, outreach, the poor you’re investing in eternity. And God promises: generous seed produces a generous harvest.
4. The Power of the Tithe
Here’s where many believers miss it. They sow, but they don’t tithe. And without the tithe, the seed isn’t protected.
Malachi 3 is clear: “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse… and I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground.” (vv.10–11 NKJV)
Think of it this way: sowing is planting seed in the soil. Tithing is building the fence that protects it. Without the fence, the devourer fear, debt, disaster can eat your crop before it grows.
The tithe activates God’s supernatural protection, ensuring your offering doesn’t just sit in the ground, but grows into harvest.
5. Walk in Obedience
But tithing alone isn’t enough. To protect your Break Free seed, you must also walk in obedience.
Deuteronomy 28:12–14 declares that God will bless the work of your hands and make you the head, not the tail if you faithfully obey His commands.
That means integrity in business. Purity in relationships. Honesty in finances. Faithfulness in worship.
Obedience isn’t about perfection it’s about direction. When you live aligned with God’s Word, you position your seed for maximum harvest.
So how do we protect our Break Free offering?
• Discern: Don’t eat seed that was meant to be planted.
• Invest: Sow wisely and consistently.
• Give: Sow generously into God’s Kingdom.
• Tithe: Build the fence of protection around your seed.
• Obey: Walk in integrity so the enemy has no foothold.
When we do these things, God Himself promises to rebuke the devourer, open the windows of heaven, and pour out blessing we cannot contain.
Maybe you’ve sown a Break Free offering recently. Maybe you’re still waiting for your harvest. Don’t lose heart. Your seed is alive.
Galatians 6:9 says: “Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
Your job is to sow, to protect, to obey. God’s job is to multiply.
So today, declare this over your life: “My seed is protected. My harvest is coming. And the devourer has no authority over me.”
That’s the power of a protected Break Free offering.
